One line per SKU: the lowest in-stock price across the retailers we track, recorded at each scrape. The observation count is printed under the price — we would rather you see exactly how much history sits behind a line than mistake a young series for a deep one.

Best price is the cheapest latest in-stock observation across tracked retailers within the last 30 days, and the date it was recorded is printed beside it — a price we saw last week is labeled as last week’s, not passed off as today’s. Always confirm at the retailer before purchase.

The SSD index
Single drives are noisy, so we also compute an index: per SKU, take the lowest in-stock price across retailers, divide by capacity, take the median across all tracked SSDs, and normalize to 100 at the series start. One weird listing cannot drag it.
The two indexes are computed identically from the same scrapes, which is what makes the comparison worth anything: on our observations the storage side has not tracked the memory side. How this chart is built
- Real listings only. Prices come from live product pages at Newegg and B&H, both of which permit scraping in robots.txt — we check and record that before a retailer’s first scrape. Amazon is Keepa-API-only, never scraped.
- Retail, not contract. These are the prices a buyer actually pays at a US retailer. NAND contract and spot prices are a different market with different numbers, and we do not publish figures we cannot observe.
- Nothing is invented. Out-of-stock listings record no price rather than carrying the last one forward. Demo rows are flagged in the database and blocked from public pages at the database layer, not by convention.
- Suspicious moves are quarantined. A price jump over 60% is held back until a second scrape confirms it, so a retailer glitch cannot appear on this chart as a market event.
- Thin aggregates are withheld. The median and the index require at least 5 drives with current observations. Below the floor we name the figure as withheld instead of quietly printing a weak one.

Each tracked listing is re-scraped on its own schedule — between roughly every two and every ten days per listing on the current configuration — and the page re-renders from the database at least every 30 minutes. We never interpolate between observations or estimate a missing day: every point on the chart is a price a retailer actually displayed.
